Tsunami caused damage to a Russian nuclear base, according to satellite images.

((Arab Sea)) Translations: Satellite images revealed that the Russian fleet's nuclear submarine base was damaged by the tsunami waves that struck the Russian coast on Wednesday, following an earthquake measuring 8.8 on the Richter scale. The images were obtained by the British newspaper "The Telegraph," which reported on Friday that tsunami waves swept through the "Rybachiy" base located on the Kamchatka Peninsula, in the far east of the country. The images, taken on Thursday morning by a satellite belonging to the company "Umbra Space," showed that part of one of the docks had deviated from its original position, indicating that it may have separated from its original mooring. The images did not show any vertical submarines at the dock while the tsunami waves were sweeping through the base. The newspaper quoted experts as saying that the damage to the infrastructure is not of military significance. This base includes nuclear submarines, of the modern Borei class, and "Delta" class models from the Soviet era. The "Rybachiy" base is located inside Avacha Bay, 120 km from the epicenter of the earthquake, and the bay also includes missile loading facilities and a ship maintenance dock. According to Sidharth Kaushal, a researcher at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), there are no indications that the submarine fleet has suffered any damage. He added: "I don't think it's possible to say anything more than that the dock was damaged, which I don't think will greatly affect the pace of operations at the base." According to the newspaper, the docks of the "Rybachiy" base are specifically designed to withstand seismic shocks, and the base is also designed to withstand potential nuclear attacks. An earthquake struck Kamchatka on Wednesday with a magnitude of 8.8 in East Asia, and is considered one of the strongest earthquakes ever recorded, causing tsunami waves in some areas near its epicenter.
