((Arab Sea)) Agencies: Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles announced on Wednesday that her country will receive 13 sick children from Gaza, accompanied by their families, on a medically equipped military plane that will take off from Jordan, to receive treatment in Spanish hospitals. Robles told reporters: "We are in the process of completing the preparation of the medical A-400 plane that will head to Amman to transport 13 sick children from Gaza with their families (...) so that they can receive treatment in hospitals in Spain." The plane was scheduled to leave for Amman on Wednesday. This is not the first time that Spain, which is one of the most critical European countries of the Israeli attack on Gaza, has received sick children from Gaza since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas on October 7, 2023. Robles added in a statement on the sidelines of a visit near Madrid, "The situation in Gaza is extremely terrible, and the level of cruelty shown by Benjamin Netanyahu is completely unacceptable, and I believe that the international community must act." Spain announced on Monday that it intends to airdrop 12 tons of food aid over Gaza this week, amid a worsening risk of famine in the besieged and devastated sector after 21 months of war between Israel and Hamas. The war in Gaza broke out following an unprecedented attack by Hamas on southern Israel that resulted in the death of 1,219 people, most of them civilians, according to a count conducted by Agence France-Presse based on official figures. Israel responded with a devastating war and military operations that are still ongoing in the Gaza Strip, and the number of its dead has exceeded 60,000.
