The governor of Russia's Tambov region, Yevgeny Pervishov, announced today, Wednesday, that an attack carried out by Ukrainian drones led to a fire at an oil depot in the region, as part of a mutual escalation of aerial attacks between Moscow and Kyiv. Pervishov said via his Telegram channel that "firefighting and security forces immediately arrived at the site of the attack, and all necessary resources were mobilized to control the fire and prevent its spread," without mentioning any casualties. For its part, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that 102 Ukrainian drones were intercepted and destroyed during the night hours in various regions of the country, describing the attacks as "unprecedented in terms of number." These developments come days after a Russian night attack with missiles and drones on the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, which resulted in the death of seven people and fires in a number of residential buildings, according to Ukrainian officials. The mutual escalation reflects the increasing tensions between the two sides, with continued cross-border attacks targeting vital and military installations deep within the territories.
