A winter storm that struck the Great Lakes region caused widespread power outages in Wisconsin, as emergency crews continue to work to restore service to thousands of affected residents. WE Energies said that more than 6,000 outages were recorded in the state, mostly in and south of Milwaukee, noting that power lines were damaged by heavy, wet snow. In Iowa, Des Moines airport remained closed after a Delta Connection plane slid off the icy runway on Saturday, with no injuries reported. Chicago's O'Hare International Airport also experienced significant disruptions, with more than 250 flights canceled and more than 900 flights delayed, according to FlightAware, a website specializing in tracking air traffic.
