Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi announced on Thursday that Iran has informed the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that the Cairo Agreement is no longer in effect, in response to the IAEA Board of Governors' recent resolution against Iran. Araqchi explained, in a statement reported by Mehr News Agency, that the agreement has effectively lost its role as a regulator of the relationship between Iran and the Agency in the field of safeguards. He added that the European troika and the United States did not take into account Iran's goodwill initiative to submit a draft resolution to the Board of Governors, noting that this action weakened the credibility and independence of the Agency and disrupted the path of cooperation with it.
