According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs, 25 people, including three children, were killed and dozens injured in Russian airstrikes launched by Russian forces on the city of Ternopil in western Ukraine on Wednesday. The strikes damaged a number of residential buildings and industrial facilities, and led to fires and power outages in several areas. Russia launched more than 470 drones and 48 missiles during the attack. The raids also targeted energy and transportation infrastructure. In the city of Kharkiv, at least 32 people were injured as a result of a drone missile attack on a nine-story residential building. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that the raids targeted multi-story residential buildings, with the possibility of others being trapped under the rubble. The attack comes at a time when Ukraine is witnessing an escalation in Russian attacks on energy infrastructure with the approach of winter, while the Russian army continues its advance in the Kharkiv region, where it recently seized the village of Dvorichansky.
