The United Nations considered the firing of an Israeli tank at UNIFIL peacekeeping forces a "serious violation" of Security Council Resolution 1701. The mission explained in a statement that the soldiers, who were walking on foot, were forced to hide, noting that "fortunately no one was injured, and the force was able to leave safely 30 minutes after the tank withdrew." The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon renewed its call to stop any acts of aggression or attacks targeting peacekeeping forces, stressing that these forces continue their efforts to support the restoration of stability in the region.
