Arab Sea - Follow-ups: The German government announced today, Monday, its intention to lift the suspension of some arms sales to Israel starting next week, following the ceasefire agreement reached in Gaza last month. The government spokesman said that the authorities will return to reviewing arms export requests to Israel on a case-by-case basis, taking into account political and security developments. The spokesman explained that the decision allows the resumption of exports that were suspended last August, starting from November 24. The suspension included weapons and systems that could be used in the Gaza Strip, without affecting weapons that Israel considers necessary to defend itself against external threats. It is noteworthy that Germany is the second largest arms supplier to Israel after the United States, and it imposed a partial suspension on its shipments in light of the escalation of the war in Gaza and internal pressures. The spokesman affirmed Germany's continued commitment to supporting a lasting peace between Israel and the Palestinians on the basis of a two-state solution, and to contributing to efforts to rebuild the Gaza Strip.
