Arab Sea - Follow-ups: U.S. authorities carried out extensive raids in the city of Charlotte, North Carolina, in a new escalation of the campaign against illegal immigration in the south of the country, according to the Department of Homeland Security. Department spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin confirmed that the operation aims to "remove threats to public safety," noting that "many have fallen victim to illegal alien criminals." However, she did not disclose the number of participants or detainees. For their part, local officials and Democratic representatives expressed concern about the impact of these raids on communities, especially as they have sparked "fear and uncertainty," according to an official statement from the Charlotte municipality. This step comes in the context of a strict policy led by Republican President Donald Trump, who has recently focused on carrying out arrests in cities led by Democrats, such as Chicago, Washington, and Los Angeles.
