Informed sources reported that the administration of US President Donald Trump intends to seek congressional approval for a new deal to sell weapons and support equipment to Israel, estimated at about $6.4 billion. According to the sources, the military package includes the purchase of 30 AH-64 Apache attack helicopters worth $3.8 billion, in addition to 3,250 infantry fighting vehicles worth $1.9 billion. The deal also includes another part worth $750 million to provide spare parts and power supplies for armored personnel carriers. This move comes at a time when the Israeli army continues to expand its military operations in the city of Gaza, in a war that United Nations reports have described as "genocide." This deal highlights the strong support that the Republican administration shows for Israel, in contrast to the growing reservations within Democratic circles regarding the continued supply of weapons to it against the backdrop of the war in Gaza. More than half of the Democratic senators recently voted against additional arms sales, while some pushed for a resolution calling for the recognition of a Palestinian state. The Wall Street Journal was the first to reveal the details of this deal, according to "Reuters."
