Iran rejects the Security Council resolution and describes the European Troika's steps as "provocative" Tehran - Bahralarab Iran announced today, Friday, its rejection of the UN Security Council vote to reimpose sanctions on it due to its nuclear program, and considered the decision "illegal" and undermines diplomatic efforts. In an official statement, the Iranian Foreign Ministry condemned the move led by the European Troika countries (Britain, France, and Germany), describing it as "unjustified and provocative," stressing that it constitutes a "direct attack on international law." For his part, the Iranian envoy to the United Nations, Amir Saeed Iravani, said that "the action taken today is hasty, unnecessary, and illegal, and Iran does not recognize any obligation to implement it," stressing that his country reserves the right to respond appropriately. Iravani added that the European Troika bears responsibility for "the escalation and the crisis that will result from it," accusing it of failing to fulfill its obligations "and hiding behind empty promises following Washington's instructions." Tehran believes that the European move constitutes a serious threat to political settlement efforts in its nuclear file, stressing that it will not submit to policies of "coercion and pressure."
