Arab Gulf - Follow-ups: RIA Novosti reported on Wednesday that a fire that broke out in fuel storage facilities at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant had been extinguished, following artillery shelling by Ukrainian forces on the area, amid warnings of a nuclear disaster. The agency stated that Ukrainian forces targeted with artillery an area near the plant's fuel storage facilities, leading to a fire in dry grass about 400 meters from the diesel tanks, confirming that the basic infrastructure was not damaged, and that the radiation level in the plant and surrounding areas remained within normal limits. Meanwhile, the governor of the province, Yevgeny Balitsky, warned that the continued Ukrainian shelling of the vicinity of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant threatens a nuclear disaster whose repercussions could affect the entire world. Balitsky described the shelling as "systematic and terrorist" and accused Kyiv of practicing "nuclear blackmail" by targeting a facility that is the largest in Europe in terms of the number of reactors and production capacity, calling on the international community to condemn these attacks. The Zaporizhzhia plant is located on the left bank of the Dnieper River near the city of Energodar, and includes six reactors with a total capacity of six gigawatts. On the other hand, Andriy Raikovych, the governor of the Kirovohrad region in central Ukraine, said today, Wednesday, that a Russian attack overnight with drones on the region caused a partial power outage and disruption to rail traffic. Raikovych wrote on Telegram, "So far, the electricity is partially cut off from the center of the region and 44 residential communities." Oleksiy Kuleba, the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, said that Russian forces targeted railway infrastructure in the overnight attack, without specifying the location.
