Arab Sea - Follow-ups: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu acknowledged today, Monday, for the first time that Israel is entering "a kind of isolation," according to the Israeli army radio. Netanyahu's statement came during a conference of the Israeli Ministry of Finance, saying: "We are entering a kind of isolation, and we will have to adapt more and more to an economy with characteristics of self-sufficiency." The Israeli economic newspaper "Marker" clarified that Netanyahu added: "Israel is currently experiencing a kind of political isolation, and it must produce its own weapons so as not to become dependent on the world." These statements come at a time when several Western countries, including Britain, Spain, and Canada, have announced a halt to arms exports to Israel, while other countries, including France, Australia, and Norway, have expressed their intention to recognize the Palestinian state during the United Nations meetings in September. Opposition leader Yair Lapid commented on Netanyahu's statements, describing them as "insane," stressing that isolation is not fate, but rather the result of a wrong government policy, and added: "Israel can return to success and popularity with a thriving economy within the countries of the first world." The leader of the Democrats party, Yair Golan, also considered that Netanyahu's statements reflect "his quest to preserve his throne through a permanent war and isolation, at the expense of the country and the economic future." It is noteworthy that the Israeli occupation, with American support, has been continuing since October 7, 2023, a large-scale military campaign in Gaza, which has resulted in the death of 64,905 Palestinians, including children and women, and the injury of 164,926 others, in addition to a famine that killed 425 people, including 145 children, according to statistics from humanitarian agencies.
