Arab Sea_Follow-ups: "Angry" crowds gathered in Tel Aviv and across Israel on Saturday evening to demand that the government reach a ceasefire agreement in exchange for the release of the remaining 49 detainees in Gaza. Families of the detainees criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu against the backdrop of the attack that targeted Hamas leaders in Qatar last Tuesday, which appears to have dealt a blow to talks regarding the release of the detainees in exchange for a ceasefire. The Times of Israel reported that Sharon Aloni Cunio, whose husband David is still being held in Gaza and is believed to be still alive, accused the government of stalling the release of the remaining detainees. She said, "Netanyahu opposes the approach he started himself," referring to the Prime Minister's rejection of a temporary agreement on the detainees, which he had previously said he preferred over reaching a comprehensive agreement. She added, "The negotiations have stopped, and this time with fires and pillars of smoke. Every delay is a deadly danger." She pointed out that her husband was left in captivity "when Israel decided to cancel the second deal" earlier this year, "collapsing after what should have been the first phase of 3 phases," and also "when Israel carried out an assassination mission in Qatar last Tuesday," which Netanyahu described on Saturday as having failed to achieve its goal of eliminating the most prominent Hamas leaders abroad. Makabit Mayer, the aunt of the detained twins Gali and Ziv Berman, also attacked Israel's decision to target Hamas leaders in Doha. She said sarcastically, "Now, of all times, it has become necessary to eliminate the political arm of Hamas because there is an opportunity." She added, "There are opportunities for everything except for Gali and Ziv and the rest of the 48 hostages."
