**Arabian Sea - Agencies:** South Korean lawmakers said on Thursday, citing the country's intelligence agency, that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has strengthened his daughter Kim Ju-ae's position as a potential successor after she accompanied him on his visit to China. Lee Sung-kuyon, a member of the South Korean parliament's intelligence committee, said that Ju-ae stayed at the North Korean embassy and avoided public appearances during her visit to Beijing, but the mere fact that she accompanied her father on a trip abroad was "enough to build an image" as a potential successor to the regime, according to Reuters. Park Sun-won, another member of the committee, said, "It was indicated that Kim Ju-ae's status as a potential successor is being consolidated through her occasional appearances, while enabling her to gain foreign experience without appearing at public events." Earlier this month, Kim made an unprecedented visit to Beijing to attend a multilateral gathering, where he watched a military parade and stood alongside Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to South Korean lawmakers, Kim also held bilateral meetings with Xi and Putin on the sidelines of the summit, in an attempt to project an image that North Korea is no longer an isolated country and that it is seeking to restore relations with China.
