Arab Gulf - Follow-ups: The Hebrew "Kan" channel revealed today, Sunday, that the Israeli government held an emergency meeting to discuss the escalatory steps that Spain intends to take against Israel due to the war on Gaza and the encroachment of settlements in the West Bank. The Hebrew channel said that Spain is about to announce a "comprehensive package" of sanctions against Israel and its government, in response to the situation in Gaza and the West Bank, some of which may target Benjamin Netanyahu personally, along with 3 of his extremist ministers. It added: "This step is being promoted by the ruling (Socialist Party) and its partner (Sumar), who are pushing for a comprehensive arms embargo, prohibiting the import and export of military equipment, weapons, technology, and technical assistance." "Kan" indicated in its report that "the Spanish parties seeking this step will try to accelerate the implementation of the ban through a royal decree." These measures include "recalling the ambassador from Tel Aviv, preventing the use of Spanish airports and ports for the transfer of weapons to Israel, and preventing access to companies that have relations with the Israeli defense industry." In addition to that: "Imposing personal sanctions on Prime Minister Netanyahu and the Ministers of Defense Yoav Gallant, National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir, and Finance Bezalel Smotrich, including considering them persona non grata." According to the channel, "Those close to Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez clarified that the government will act cautiously, but is considering the available options. While the (Sumar) party threatened to boycott its ministers' government meeting if the ban is not approved immediately." The channel revealed that the Israeli government is about to announce the establishment of a new body in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through which it seeks to integrate the political and media campaign in the international arena. The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation said in a post on "X" on Saturday that the new body will be established under the name "Public Diplomacy Department," and the head of the department will report to Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar. It added that the new body affiliated with the Foreign Ministry will employ bloggers, influencers, and experts to support the Israeli narrative two years after the outbreak of the war in Gaza.
