Arab Gulf - Follow-ups: U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Friday that the 2026 G20 summit will be held in Miami, Florida, located in the southeastern United States, and later specified that it would be at the "Trump National Doral Miami" resort, which he owns. Trump said, "I am pleased to announce that the 2026 G20 summit will be held in one of the greatest cities in our country, beautiful Miami, Florida," stressing, "We will not make any money from it at all," considering that the chosen location is the "best place" for the summit. The 79-year-old billionaire told reporters in the Oval Office, "It will be great," noting that the property is close to the airport and confirming that "every country will have its own building. I think it will be something really beautiful." But Trump, who has faced repeated accusations that he and his family members increased their wealth during his two terms, insisted that he would not benefit financially from the event. He stated, "We will not make any money from it at all. We are making a deal where there will be no money, no money in it. I just want things to go well." The U.S. President explained that there is another reason for holding the event at his resort, which is that most hotels in Miami are fully booked in December. Trump was born in New York, but he has made Florida his home for years, with his Mar-a-Lago resort in West Palm Beach and the Doral resort near Miami. During his first term (2017-2021), Trump wanted to host the G7 summit at this location, but he backed down in the face of accusations of corruption. Trump also abandoned a plan at that time to invite Russia to attend, despite its suspension from the G7 due to its annexation of the Crimean Peninsula in 2014. But this time, Trump said he would be happy for Russian President Vladimir Putin to attend the G20 summit despite Moscow's invasion of Ukraine, adding that he would also welcome Chinese President Xi Jinping. Trump said, "I would be happy if they wanted" to participate. But he clarified that they would be "observers, and I'm not sure if they want to attend as observers," even though Russia and China are members of the G20. The U.S. President also confirmed that he will not attend the G20 summit scheduled for next November in South Africa, which he accuses of persecuting white people, explaining that his deputy, Jay Dee Vance, will represent the United States at this summit, which brings together the heads of state and government of the G20 member countries. Trump announced at the end of July that he "probably will not attend" the G20 summit in South Africa. He said on Friday, "I'm not going, Jay Dee will go. He's a great vice president, and he's looking forward to it."
