Arabian Gulf_Reuters: Russia launched a fierce air attack on Ukraine on Tuesday night, injuring at least four railway workers and prompting Poland to scramble defensive aircraft, according to Reuters. The Ukrainian Air Force stated that Moscow launched 502 drones and 24 missiles, while local authorities in western Ukraine reported a number of injuries and damage to civilian facilities and homes. The attacks coincided with Russian President Vladimir Putin's attendance at a military parade in Beijing commemorating the end of World War II, during which Chinese President Xi Jinping warned that the world faces a choice between peace and war. Ukrainian officials and media said that air raid sirens wailed for hours across Ukraine, with explosions heard in 9 out of 24 regions, stretching from the capital Kyiv to Lviv and Volyn in the west. The command of the armed forces in Poland, which borders Ukraine from the west and is a member of NATO, announced that it had activated its aircraft and allied aircraft to ensure safety. The Operational Command wrote on X, "Russia is once again carrying out strikes targeting Ukrainian territory." The state-owned Ukrainian Railways said via Telegram that four of its workers in the Kirovohrad region in central Ukraine were hospitalized after being injured in the Russian attack overnight, warning that damage to railway facilities could delay some services. The Ukrainian Emergency Service said on Telegram that five people were injured and 28 houses were damaged in a Russian attack on the village of Znamianka in the Kirovohrad region. The Khmelnytskyi city administration in western Ukraine said via Telegram that public transport in the city faced "significant disruptions to its schedule" following the attack, with the region's governor pointing to fires and damage to residential and other buildings. There has been no comment from Russia so far. Both sides deny targeting civilians in their strikes during the war launched by Russia with a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
