Participants in the Aden Conference on Vascular Diseases and Surgery called for the establishment of a specialized hospital for vascular surgery and surgical endoscopy in the temporary capital, Aden, with the aim of bridging the gap in this delicate specialty and providing advanced treatment services to the southern and neighboring governorates. In the final statement of the conference, the participants emphasized the importance of adopting a professional and academic accreditation program for the specialized certificate of surgical board graduates – the first batch – in line with international standards. They also stressed the need to involve the private sector and supporting organizations in qualifying a specialized center capable of providing quality services in the field of vascular surgery. The recommendations included a call to unify medical and surgical protocols according to best global practices, and to enhance cooperation with regional and international organizations and federations to organize periodic scientific events that contribute to the exchange of experiences and the development of medical staff skills. The conference also recommended establishing specialized units in the main governorate hospitals to keep pace with the continuous increase in patient needs. During the closing of the events, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for the Therapeutic Medicine Sector, Dr. Shawqi Al-Sharjabi, affirmed that the Ministry will work to integrate the conference's recommendations into its plans to improve health services, stressing the importance of raising the capabilities of doctors in vascular surgery to face the increasing challenges in this specialty. He praised the scientific and organizational efforts of the conference and the quality research papers it presented. For his part, the Vice-Chairman of the Preparatory Committee, Dr. Abdulkarim Al-Amiri, explained that the recommendations constitute a practical step to advance vascular surgery in Yemen, expressing his hope to transform them into executive programs that enhance the health infrastructure during the next stage. The conference brought together more than 300 participants from inside and outside the country, and over two days discussed 53 scientific papers that reviewed the latest developments and techniques in vascular surgery and diseases, and concluded with the honoring of the entities and personalities supporting the efforts to make its activities successful.
