The World Health Organization has warned of rising cholera rates in Sudan, after recording more than 120,000 cases and nearly 3,500 deaths in 151 areas of the country's 18 states. WHO spokesman Christian Lindmeier explained during a press briefing in Geneva that the cholera mortality rate in Sudan is about 3%, which is three times the 1% limit adopted by the organization. He added that only 48% of health facilities in Sudan are fully functional, while 12% are partially functional, and 40% have stopped working completely, which increases the seriousness of the health situation.
